About this event

This Sands webinar is facilitated live by a specialist bereavement care trainer and is ideal for anyone working in maternity services, neonatal care, or on an early pregnancy unit.

The webinar covers the core principles of bereavement care and is an excellent introduction for inexperienced staff, or a refresher for more senior colleagues. Sands webinars are not designed to replace face-to face training workshops but be an additional learning opportunity for busy professionals.

At the end of this session participants will understand what good bereavement care looks like and know how best to support bereaved families in their care.

The voice of bereaved parents and the needs of professionals supporting them are at the centre of the learning materials, which include video content and links to useful tools and research. The session is 2 hours and includes the following topics:

  • The parent and family perspective
  • Grief, loss and psychological trauma
  • Sensitive communication
  • Supporting memory making
  • Enabling informed choice
  • National Bereavement Care Pathway
  • Support during pregnancy following a loss
  • Wellbeing of healthcare professionals

The session is interactive so if you have any questions please do raise them during the webinar or contact us in advance of the session.

This webinar is accredited by the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) and a certificate of attendance will be available upon request.
